Sian Morson is a serial entrepreneur, designer, author and investor.

In 2010, Sian founded Kollective Mobile – a mobile consultancy and the first of its kind started by a black woman, to help other businesses and startups with mobile development and strategy. Kollective Mobile works primarily with startups and agencies to develop and deliver compelling and delightful mobile experiences.

Kollective Mobile has created mobile apps for high profile clients from Delta to the SEIU. Sian’s diverse skillset includes marketing, advertising, mobile strategy, business management and thought leadership. She currently oversees operations and leads business development and strategic efforts.

In 2013, Sian opened Kollective South, a co-working and communi-tech center in Atlanta, Georgia. Her goal was to provide a collaborative workspace for underrepresented entrepreneurs and creative but also much needed technical curriculum for communities in innovation deserts. Kollective South served as a meeting spot and hub for some of Atlanta’s top entrepreneurs and organizations such as Walker’s Legacy and Technologists of Color.

Sian lectures and speaks at conferences, universities and symposia worldwide including SXSW, ModevUX, Google, and the University of Ohio. She also writes about mobile strategy and entrepreneurship for a number of publications. Highly regarded as a mobile expert and thought leader, Sian has been featured and quoted in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Inc., Black Enterprise, Ebony, and on NPR.

Sian has been named one of the top women in tech to follow on Twitter by The Huffington Post, Craig Newmark (founder of CraigsList), CEO World Magazine and The Atlanta Blackstar.

Sian is a published author, having written her first book, “Learn Design for iOS” in 2012. In 2014, she contributed to the collection of inspirational essays about women in technology “Innovating Women” by Vivek Wadwha and Ferai Chedaya. ”Design for iOS” with Sketch was published in December of 2015 and quickly became an Amazon best-seller reaching the top ten in the Computers & Technology category.

Sian is the founder of Cast Beauty, a data-driven beauty recommendation platform that provided users personalized product recommendations based on their skin and hair profile and data points from the weather. Cast Beauty was featured in publications worldwide including Blavity, Ebony, PopSugar, MarieClaire, and others.

Cast was one of three startups recognized by L’Oreal as Next Generation Award winners for having the potential to disrupt and transform the beauty industry.

In 2016, Sian sold Cast Beauty and transitioned from founder to investor.

She is a limited partner with Backstage Capital where she informally advises the portfolio’s startups in product design. From apps to websites, Sian has advised and guided startups in design and product development for the past few years. Along the way, she has judged hackathons, mentored at accelerators and guided startup teams on the path to creating great products for their customers including the Reach Higher App and Virtual Accelerator sponsored by First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Having graduated from New York University’s world renown Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in Film & Television, Sian is also an internationally exhibited video artist. She enjoys fusing her creativity with technology. Her video art work has featured in the prestigious Optica Festival in Spain, Director’s Lounge Berlin, Aakriti Gallery in Mumbai, India, and MoCADA Museum in Brooklyn, NY.
