Sian Morson is the ultimate multi-hyphenate. Entrepreneur-Author-Investor-Producer…

Having studied film at NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, Sian headed west and plunged into technology, working in the world of advertising, producing large websites and online media for the likes of MGM, Coca Cola, and Audi. After earning her Master’s at London’s Middlesex University, Sian went on to manage the mobile division of the #1 Independent Digital healthcare company Eveo in 2008. There, she managed a team creating apps for clients that included Genentech, Novartis and Pfizer.

In 2010 she founded Kollective Mobile. Kollective mobile specializes in native mobile development and works with a range of agencies, startups and organizations to realize their mobile needs.

Sian created one of the first co working spaces in Atlanta in 2013 in the Castleberry Hills district. A precursor to newer spaces such as The Gathering Spot, Switchyards and TechSquare Labs, KSouth’s mission was to be a ‘communi-tech’ center with robust technical programming in what is now known as innovation deserts. Before closing, KSouth hosted a number of events for organizations such as Walker’s Legacy and Techs of Color.

In 2014 started working on what would be Cast Beauty, a data-driven beauty recommendation platform. Cast was the only beauty app that used a unique algorithm and specific data points from the weather to provide users with personalized beauty product recommendations. At launch, Cast Beauty won L’Oreal’s prestigious Women in Digital award presented to women founders of companies with the potential to revolutionize the beauty industry. The app received global attention and write-ups in MarieClaire, Blavity, Ebony, Redbook, PopSugar and AdAge among others.

Sian has authored 2 books; “Learn Design for iOS” and “Design for iOS with Sketch” (Apress). Design for iOS with Sketch is the first book written on Sketch. Sketch has quickly become the de-facto standard for web and mobile UI design.

Sian has begun working with notable producer Sidra Smith (Free Angela and all Political Prisoners) on “A Luv Tale” a film originally created by Smith 20 years ago. A Luv Tale is being revived with a new, original cast as a web series in late 2017.

After a successful exit of Cast Beauty, Sian set her sights on investing. She became an LP with Backstage Capital. BackStage’s fund is dedicated to providing funding for startups run by women, people of color and LGBT founders.

Sian has recently taken on a new role as EIR (Entrepreneur in Residence) at Cross Culture Ventures. CCV is an early stage venture firm managed by Troy Carter and Marlon Nichols.
